The material

Matt to glossy.

Rifine is a decorative, timeless lime plaster of rare versatility. Its refined lime finish can be worked to a matt, serene calm or a glossy, tadelakt-inspired sheen — the same material, two very different moods.

It is a true mineral surface: a breathable lime paste, coloured on site with Stoopen & Meeûs powder pigments, that hardens slowly and naturally as it draws carbon dioxide from the air. Applied evenly it reads clean and uniform; worked more freely it reveals subtle variations of tone.

As with every hand-applied mineral finish, the result depends on the craftsman, the substrate and the light — so we always make a sample first.

Finishes

Matt or polished.

The same lime reads two ways — a matt, mineral calm, or polished to a glossy, tadelakt-inspired sheen with real depth.

The system

How it goes on.

Composition
A refined decorative plaster for walls and ceilings, mineral and lime-based. It arrives as a fine white powder and, mixed with water and mineral pigments, becomes a flexible, breathable lime paste — worked to seamless, velvety or high-gloss tadelakt finishes. It cures slowly through natural carbonation.
Equipment
Rifine powder (16 kg bags) and Stoopen & Meeûs powder pigments, with StucPrimer and a suitable topcoat — Uniwall 1KPU varnish or Uniwall Wax. Tools: a mechanical mixer, clean water and a Venetian or Japanese trowel.
Protection
Where the surface needs protection from stains, dirt or fingerprints, the lime is sealed with Uniwall 1KPU varnish or Uniwall Wax. Representative tests are always carried out first.
Where it's used
For walls and ceilings, on virtually any stable, durable substrate prepared with a coat of StucPrimer. High-quality workmanship is essential to the result.
